As we usher in #PrideMonth2021, our CEO Joe Almeida shares a message of unity in the face of hatred, violence and divisiveness. Pride Month is a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, and so much more. Its transcending themes of affirmation and respect are, ultimately, a call for all of us to embrace the beauty and power of our diversity in all its forms. For most of us, it’s a message that’s as positive as it is obvious. Yet these joyous themes play out in the shadow of violence and negativity. We’ve just observed a year since the murder of George Floyd, an event that sparked a broader cultural reawakening to continuing discrimination and violence targeting the Black community. There has also been a sickening spike in U.S. hate crimes targeting Asians and other people of color; Jews and other religious minorities; the LGBTQ+ community; and people with disabilities. Tragically, I can call out similar examples around the world. It has never felt more urgent in my lifetime to promote inclusion and unequivocally reject hate. At Baxter International Inc., our diversity makes us stronger
This month we celebrate Pride month - we celebrate love, inclusion and diversity. This is where we bring our authentic selves to work, this is where we see an inclusive workspace where we are all respected and appreciated.
