A train connection to Dublin Airport has moved a very welcome step closer with the commencement of the procurement process for the construction of the MetroLink station at the airport. The project will include the construction of the airport station box and tunnel portals. MetroLink will ultimately link Dublin Airport to Swords in around 5 minutes and the city centre in 20 minutes. We were delighted to be joined by Minister Darragh O'Brien TD, National Transport Authority CEO Anne Shaw, OBE FCIHT, Transport Infrastructure Ireland CEO Lorcan O'Connor, daa Chief Commercial & Development Officer Vincent Harrison and Fingal County Council CEO AnnMarie Farrelly for a photocall to celebrate the launch of the procurement process. We look forward to working closely with all of the other various agencies to deliver this project - which our passengers really want - over the years ahead. 🚇
Progress! Dublin Airport has achieved Level 4+ of the internationally recognised Airport Carbon Accreditation programme - putting us among the top airports in the world for carbon management. Awarded by ACI World - Airports Council International, Airport Carbon Accreditation is the global standard for carbon management at airports. Our transition to Level 4+ was underpinned by robust carbon data collection, the delivery of targeted energy‑saving and emissions‑reduction measures across airport operations, and close collaboration with airlines, ground handlers and other partners operating here. daa is targeting net zero carbon emissions across its own operations by 2050, with significant emissions reductions by 2030. ✈️
April was the 13th consecutive month of passenger growth at Dublin Airport. 3.1 million passengers passed through our terminals - up +1.1% on April last year. In total, 21 of the 30 days in April saw more than 100k passengers travelling through the airport. ✈️
daa employees worked alongside external partners, including Trinity College Dublin, Fingal County Council and AirNav Ireland, to kick start our Biodiversity Enhancement Project at one of our sites at Dublin Airport on Earth Day, Wednesday April 22. We’re also collaborating with two Irish SMEs on this project Polliknow and BIONUA who are supporting elements of the initiative alongside our wider stakeholders. The project highlights daa volunteers working together on a nature positive initiative focused on practical biodiversity enhancement across the airport campus. Participants planted native trees, learned directly from experts and took simple, hands on steps to support local biodiversity. Initiatives like this show the value of collaboration, bringing people together, sharing knowledge and turning commitment into real action on the ground. Thanks to everyone involved, and to our Sustainability and Community Engagement teams for leading and delivering the project.
March was another very strong month at Dublin Airport. ✈️ St Patrick’s Day, Cheltenham, Mother’s Day and Irish fans travelling to Prague for the Ireland match all helped keep both terminals busy throughout the month. Despite disruption and flight cancellations linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, March still marked the twelfth consecutive month of passenger growth at Dublin Airport.
daa strongly welcomes the opening of formal negotiations on an Air Services Agreement between Ireland and Brazil, which would enable direct flights between the two countries. This progressive step will come as great news to the many thousands of Brazilians living in Ireland who have been telling us for years how much they want a direct route between Ireland and Ireland and also to the airlines that have been talking to daa for many years about adding services via Dublin Airport. Brazil is one of the places that passengers most want to see served directly from Dublin Airport. A poll carried out on Dublin Airport's social media channels last year, which generated more than 60,000 responses, saw more than two thirds of voters (71%) opting for Sao Paulo as their preferred option, followed by the Indian capital city of Delhi (23%). According to Vincent Harrison, Chief Commercial and Development Officer at daa, the operator of Dublin Airport: "Direct flights to the likes of Sao Paulo, Delhi and Hong Kong are exactly the type of routes that we want to add at Dublin Airport. daa is having conversations all of the time with airlines who want to add exciting new routes at Dublin Airport - routes which will bring increased connectivity, jobs and economic growth with them.
Winners! A proud moment for daa and its sustainability team last night as it was named "Sustainability Team of the Year (1000+ employees)" at the Green Awards in Dublin. daa was recognised by judges as "an outstanding example of sustainability leadership at enterprise scale", adding that "daa combined clear ambition with measurable action, embedding sustainability across decarbonisation, circularity, and healthy local environments". The award is testament to the huge work being undertaken by daa to decarbonise its operations, including at Dublin Airport and Cork Airport. daa was delighted to also be short-listed on the night in the categories for Large Organisation of the Year (1000+) and Public Sector Organisation of the Year. Congratulations to all of the other winners.
Back of the net! ⚽ daa has agreed a five-year sponsorship of Paddy's Hill - the training facility of Portmarnock AFC. The facility - now known as "daa Paddy's Hill" - is home to the club's many teams, from boys and girls underage teams to the senior team, which competes in the Leinster Senior League. The grounds are also used by the club's hugely popular Nipper's Academy, as well as local schools and community groups. daa recently got together with some of the kids, coaches and parents to celebrate the partnership, which builds on the extensive support that the club has received over the years from the Dublin Airport Community Fund.
Winners! We’re proud to share that daa has won the Green Impact Award at the 2025 Aviation Industry Awards – for the second year in a row. 🏆 The Aviation Industry Awards celebrate innovation and excellence across the sector. The Green Impact Award recognises organisations that show “exceptional commitment to sustainability, reducing environmental impact, improving energy efficiency, and promoting sustainable practices within Irish aviation”. At daa, sustainability sits at the heart of everything we do. Through investment, innovation and a culture that empowers every colleague to make a positive change, we’re reimagining how our airports can lead the transition to a sustainable future for aviation and the communities we serve.
5 festive days on the road. 19 schools. 5,000+ kids. 2 street parades. And a special performance in the terminal for passengers. Dublin Airport’s annual Christmas Roadshow hit road last week, delivering bundle-loads of Christmas cheer to the local community. Santa and his Elves swapped his sleigh for our festively decorated fire engine and Airport Police vehicle covered more than 150km to carry out memorable Christmas shows in schools in Drynam, Kinsealy, Ballymun, St Margaret's, Rivermeade, Rolestown, Oldtown, Rivervalley, Feltrim, Tyrellstown and Portmarnock. Happy kids 'oohed' and cheered at the elves' back flips, while Santa (who threw in a back-flip of his own!) delivered a very special gift to each school. Judging by the smiles on the kids’ faces, it truly is the best time of the year! 🎄
