Last weekend, two of our Python Software Developers, Carlos Boo and Snehal Parmar, had the privilege of attending PyCon Ireland 2024. This week, a number of colleagues from our Dublin office spent a hugely rewarding day volunteering with the DSPCA, as part of our global “Volunteer Together Month 2024”. The morning was spent giving all the dogs a much-needed walk around the grounds. In the afternoon, we helped pack up gift bags for children while playing with some rabbits and a ferret, mucking out the horses and a donkey, and then playing with a number of cats in the cattery. All of the sweet animals we worked with are available for adoption, and so if anyone is interested in adopting a pet for home, then you should really consider visiting the DSPCA to meet some of them. They have wonderful facilities to look after all the animals in their care and are well worth the visit. Our final volunteering day, as part of our Global #CommunityMonth initiative took place yesterday, Sunday 10th September on #WorldSuicidePreventionDay. Our very own Sailaja Narayana went out with a friend on behalf of Pieta to help fundraise and spread awareness of the vital services Pieta offers to those who may be struggling with suicidal feelings. This was also a day to remember those we may have lost 💛 Here at 888spectate, we were very proud to support such a wonderful charitable group and to contribute to the success of their first #FlagDay bucket collection.
As part of our global #CommunityMonth, yesterday a few of us made our way to K2Alpacas with Joe Phelan and Rhona O'Donovan from The Down Syndrome Centre where we helped contribute to different fun features that will be used in their pumpkin patch, to help entertain children visiting the farm and to fundraise over Halloween. K2Alpacas provides invaluable therapeutic sessions for children and adults with developmental challenges, both in the local and wider community, and The Down Syndrome Centre offers a vital service to families and children with down syndrome, helping them to achieve their full potential while creating a bright and more inclusive future. We were so happy to spend the day on the farm, lending a helping hand and giving back to our local community in the best possible way. Many thanks Joe and Rhona for looking after us all so well 😃
Last week, nearly 40 of us came together at Courtlough Shooting Grounds Limited for our 2023 Summer Event. Starting the day off, we split into groups and took part in different Team Building challenges and games, while having fun and quietly competing against each other. Next up, we tried some Archery where we were able to hone our skills with a bow and arrow with a bullseye target. We then moved on to Battlezone Archery where we could use those skills against each other to battle it out on a pitch of obstacles, and avoid the rubber tipped arrows which were flying in all directions. Needless to say, at the end of the day we were all pretty wiped and eager for food and rest. Thankfully we could then indulge in plenty of both, before we wrapped up the day together with a few pints in town. All in all, another super day out and we look forward to the next!
This month we completed one year as one company! It is incredible to see how time is really flying... We gather together in our offices all around the globe to celebrate our first anniversary this week. Here in the Dublin office, we marked the occasion with an extended lunch together and a friendly bit of ping pong and plenty of games on the Nintendo switch competitions. To many more years and many more achievements together! 🥂

Today marks the end of a cycle for both our HR Intern, Esther Williams, and Product Management Intern, Robert Power. They joined us June last year, and after a fully dedicated year to their internships and being key members of our #HR and #ProductManagement Teams, it is time for them to get back to college for their final year. Esther and Rob, what a year, right? Thank you for all your dedication, commitment, and great work. We are so proud to be part of your journey and to see how much you both have developed throughout this year! You will be greatly missed. We wish you a lovely and deserved Summer break to recharge your batteries for a very successful final year (we know you will rock it 😉). We will be watching you... 👀
