Pros

Friendly and helpful colleagues under the same terror of senior management.

Cons

Avoid at All Costs: Toxic Environment with Insecure Managers I had the unfortunate displeasure of working at Woodies and let me tell you, it's a cesspool of toxicity driven by the insecurities of its so-called managers. From day one, it was evident that the management at Woodies lacked even a modicum of leadership skills. Instead of fostering a positive work environment, they reveled in micromanaging every aspect of our work, clearly demonstrating their deep-seated insecurities. It's as if they were threatened by the mere idea of competent employees who might overshadow their incompetence. Communication? Forget about it. These managers wouldn't know effective communication if it slapped them in the face. They were more concerned with playing power games and creating an atmosphere of fear rather than fostering collaboration and productivity. Oh, and let's talk about feedback—if you can even call it that. Instead of constructive criticism aimed at helping employees grow, it was more like thinly veiled attempts to put us down and make themselves feel superior. Their fragile egos couldn't handle the thought of someone outshining them, so they resorted to passive-aggressive remarks and belittling comments. Work-life balance? Ha! At Woodies, that's just a myth. These insecure managers expected us to sacrifice our personal lives at the altar of their egos, constantly breathing down our necks and expecting us to be available 24/7. Heaven forbid you actually had a life outside of work—you'd be met with disapproving glares and thinly veiled threats of repercussions. And don't even get me started on the lack of respect for boundaries. These managers had no qualms about invading our privacy, whether it was incessant emails outside of work hours or expecting us to divulge personal information that had absolutely nothing to do with our jobs. In conclusion, unless you enjoy being micromanaged by insecure tyrants who wouldn't know effective leadership if it slapped them across the face, steer clear of Woodies at all costs. Your mental health and sanity are worth far more than any paycheck they might offer.

Pros

Most of the other staff were great, you could buy extra holidays (I didn't think it was a perk, you paid to buy unpaid holiday days)

Cons

21 Annual leave days The salary wasn't great At one point we were all brought in on 26k max and the staff they hired a year later were getting 28k, very unsupportive managers and supervisors, They make you feel guilty for a sick day even if it's Covid. I don't feel like a lot of support is offered. Salary isn't always reflective of job Can be a very toxic work environment.
