Pros

Relaxed workplace environment. Lots of cultural groups and plenty of volunteering opportunities. Starting at a low level is a very unique learning experience, its also very easy to move around to other teams or areas. In fact it is encouraged. Working in an area like Labs is an excellent place to start. As with many fintech companies the technology can be slow to progress, but there are some areas in the company that are constantly modernising. Great benefits for those with a family and the maternity/paternity leave is one of the best in Ireland. As far as I can tell the internship programme there is very good with most interns coming back as full time employees. Good opportunities to travel, as well as short and long term placements abroad in other offices. Flexible hours (depending on who your manager is) and a decent amount of annual and sick leave. There is a company wide policy that allows employees to work from home once a week, which was incredibly convenient.

Cons

Few benefits for younger employees, and those not interested in starting a family. Career progression is very slow, there are few opportunities to progress. The salary in the Dublin office is very poor, especially when compared with the other offices across the globe. Management is very political and are focused on one-upping each other. I know of several cases when management would send emails out at 3/4/5am containing nothing of importance to make themselves look good. Feedback was often requested but was never taken on board. When management were asked to improve a situation or presented with possible improvements the response was always "lets keep doing it like we're doing it". While I worked here I made several complaints to my manager and HR about incidents of discrimination. I collected records of this happening, even requested male employees corroborate my reports, but it was all dismissed. HR in this office are just for show, they are there to protect the company and not the employees. One female colleague was told to "get out of the kitchen if the kitchen is too hot" by a member of HR after making a complaint about long work hours (after working 90+ hours a week for several months, including weekends). I was promised a promotion by a manager(who probably shouldn't have done that) and when I enquired about why I didn't receive it, I was told that HR didn't like how I sat at my desk. I personally had colleagues accuse me of being "angry, aggressive, and naggy" because I "asked questions" in meetings. A colleague once told me to shut up on a call because I was defending the work of someone else. I was often spoken over in meetings, my ideas were dismissed but were praised if a male colleague presented them, and I received work above my pay grade but not the recognition for it. In places where I presented a solution to a problem, the solution was dismissed by senior colleagues who had no experience in that area, and when my solution was found to be the best fit another colleague took credit for it. I also had to deal with inappropriate and unprofessional advances from other colleagues, and when I mentioned the incidents to my manager he simply laughed. Upon leaving the company I was not provided an exit interview or asked to give any kind of feedback.

Pros

- Flexible working from home policy - Inspiring CEO - Ability to move roles across teams and countries

Cons

- Dublin office are not transparent with new hires to set expectations that salary increases are on average 2% p/a. - Overall compensation across positions in Dublin is poor. NY and ST Louis offices do a far better job than Dublin office at bench marking salaries to the market. - On average, between 0% and 2.5% salary increase per annum - which leads to salary being noncompetitive within 2yrs of anyone joining Dublin office. -Struggling to bring exceptional talent into the Dublin office as can't compete on salary + pension. - Pension is below the average 14% pension contribution in tech sector. MC contribute a max of 10% towards pension. This is a big consideration for anyone joining considering pension is 10% of lower salary versus 14% pension based on higher salary. - Annual reviews are based on department bell curve.

Pros

Hybrid work, most of the time work is remote. Meeting free day

Cons

Bully Team Managers and Directors who are below incompetent need more technical knowledge and skills to manage a team. No role and responsibility: Team Managers play favors on team members. Your Job title needs to be respected. As a PM-T, I was asked to gather requirements from businesses, maintain infrastructure and releases, work as support for cases, write code and do testing. To a lousy manager lacking technical depth, it is easy work; working with 20 tools and many languages is more challenging. HR Protects and allows bullying and retaliation to have no voice in Mastercard. Complaints of misconduct don't get addressed and get you in trouble. HR will inform the bully manager (for openness), and retaliation will continue as the next step. Often, it can reflected in Performance, Pay and exclusion. I was explained that HR needs to protect Management out of fear of a lawsuit that can affect the company's image. Bellow market pay. There are no Real benefits; only some teams have flex Friday. It depends on the team manager, continuous pressure for more work and unpaid overtime.
