Pros

- Interesting domain and projects - Plenty of support from senior members - Manageable workload during sprints - Great direct managers that support you in any way they can - Good opportunities for career development and promotions

Cons

- Hired many people based all over Ireland during COVID, who have been working fully remote over the last 3 years. During the hiring process, gave them the expectation that when the offices reopen they will be fully remote with a possible expectation of coming to the office a few times a year. Recently Fidelity gave all Irish employees 30 days notice that it will be mandatory to spend 3 consecutive days per month in the office, increasing to 5 consecutive days a month come July. Hundreds of employees are living more than a 2 hour commute from the office, HRs response to this is we have given you adequate notice to sort out any "personal issues" in regards to getting to the office. Ireland is in the height of a rental and cost of living crisis, so there isn't any possibility of finding accommodation in Dublin/Galway and Fidelity have made it clear there will be no expenses provided for travel/accommodation. So overall a poor decision made by Fidelity which will result in the departure of many skilled employees.

Pros

They have decent benefits and pay

Cons

Where to begin... - Management is just appalling at all levels. One of the managers said "depression isn't an illness", which just sums up their entire attitude - People are placed in roles that may not suit them (or may not be what they applied for), and are just told to suck it up - Office politics are a joke - Bullying is ignored - Employees are left to stagnate if they annoy the wrong person - Really old tech, complicated systems, way too slow to upgrade - Use a lot of obscure tech so it's hard to find solutions online - WFH policy isn't clear, and some managers only allow seniors to WFH, while others allow anyone who's passed probation. - People in senior positions just because they've been working there a long time, who have no business being that level at all - All the interesting work is taken from Ireland and given to US teams - Dublin offices are way out in Citywest, so not an ideal location - Bad quality laptops with virtual desktops that keep crashing, meaning it can be impossible to get work done - Everything is slowed down by pointless bureaucracy - Terrible canteen with unhealthy food that's listed as healthy Overall, your experience depends entirely on who your manager is. If you get stuck with a bad one (of which there are many), it's nearly impossible to escape from them without handing in your notice.

Pros

The company has one of the best benefit packages on the market but the cons majorly outweigh the cons

Cons

The company has taken a massive step backwards with it WFH policy and have made it very clear that If you are not interested in engaging that you are putting your career at a major disadvantage e.g prior the the last all staff there were awards given and all award were for return to office engagement. Their profoundly out of touch with employees e.g will bang a drum about woman in technology but implament a backwards work from home policy which will impact woman in the workplace directly. They then try to lecture the employee about how to work in the office space without impacting others yet these are all problems that THE COMPANY created. This company WILL lie to you.
