Pros
-10% discount on shopping at Tesco after a full year of service - other customer assistants working there
Cons
- Every day a different shift (8-3pm, 2-10pm), no regular days off = NO life/work balance - Hard physical job carrying, restocking and not too well paid imho considering that fact - Can be put in a different department (stocking, till, cleaning) every second due to a current need - To call in sick you have to call the front desk, no direct contact with any person responsible - Managers are usually smiley and nice during training (one day), the reality hits once you have a problem or need assistance - training policies done meanwhile duties, signing papers 'on your knee' basically - they won't provide u with new work uniforms (telling you it's because the payroll is located in India), they will give you some previously worn sets to wash at home yourself - no contract seen nor signed, due to previously mentioned excuse for at least 1,5 a month of work - no policies, documents for you to read at home, no clarification about days off, holidays.. nothing - people working there longer will report on you if they won't like u, the manager will not listen to your side of the story, no matter what lies they produced on you because you are 'new' - might not be important for most - but the music, played round the clock in the shop and the cloak room is like a bad version of the sims soundtrack (can drive you crazy, literally) - most tills are faulty and transporting cages are broken (which does not make the job easier) - Forced to take a full 60 minutes break if your work-day is over 5 hours, which sometimes stupidly makes you spend 8 hours at work while being paid for 7, just a shop policy - the only benefit is a 10% discount card on shopping in the store, which you get after a YEAR of service - which is a joke Not enough employees and unpleasant management makes Tesco overall the worst working experience I have ever had. I have been in different positions already but this job was by far worst.
