Pros

Good pay and benefits compared to others, but totally not worth it for the hours that are expected or the headaches. Really great staff, it's just such a pity that management does not see this and continually lets them down.

Cons

Too many layers of management, not enough resources to actually do the work. All management ever do is cut timelines and expect more work in less time. Extra hours are expected and there is no thanks for doing them. Management have no interest in process improvements or changing the way things are done. Very much a sit down and do what I tell you organisation rather than the open idea challenging organisation they present themselves as being. Middle management often take work and present it to senior management as their own. IT systems do not fit the organisation well resulting in a lot of manual work outside of the system. Very aggressive environment - lots of very tense meetings, raised voices, aggressive emails. Common courtesy and professional manners are non existent to some managers. No work life balance - basically if you sign up for Alexion that is your life now, who needs to go home? No career progression in sight even though it was promised in interview.

Pros

Talented and experienced people, fair compensation

Cons

Some but not all leaders don’t value their employees, resources are directed away from critical activities to explore or execute low probability of success alternatives, some of the functions are excessively under resourced causing project delays and/or strain on other functions, push to increase efficiency by using AI is logical but it has to be understood that the need to assess the accuracy and validity of AI outputs can put strain on more senior resources. AI increases efficiency in experienced hands but some less experienced users are passing the requirement to look at the output critically onto people who should just be consumers of the info.
