Pros

Good internal courses. Having Deloitte on your CV does have its benefits. Lots of young people work there and I've made many lasting friendships while there.

Cons

The main problem is Deloitte Consulting (I'm referring to the Consulting dept and not Audit or Tax) is that the bring in highly educated and determined people at the graduate level, real achievers essentially, these graduates go in with high expectations which Deloitte Consulting built up in the recruitment process, when you start working in Deloitte Consulting you realise its not all its made up to be. Grads spend countless hours formatting and reformatting PowerPoint templates or putting borders into an Excel spreadsheet, very mundane stuff. This all leads to people getting frustrated and a feeling that they ain't learning much, this all accumulates into high staff turnover and people laughing every week when they receive yet another farewell email.

Pros

Great people at manager level and below. A great firm outside of RA from my experience and great exposure to clients.

Cons

Really poor culture from partners and directors in certain teams. They blame everyone but themselves for their poor behaviour and things they are meant to be responsible for. Be warned very few people stay more than 1-2 years especially at senior manager or below. Regular and openly inappropriate weekly outbursts by a certain female director. Always giving out about the partners, the firm, specific clients and shouting at people on team meetings she leads. Very toxic and over half the team have left because of their behaviour. Gets away with it as flirts with male partners ! Not very promising in 2023 in the work place.

Pros

Benefits of consultancy - constant changing of projects and clients, you get to experience different industries and work on lots of different projects. Work is challenging, you learn and build up your knowledge quickly. Benefits of Deloitte - people on lower levels (from analysts to senior consultants) are very hard working and it is enjoyable to work with them. Everyone are very committed and focused, team spirit is quite good. There are some nice people on higher levels that you can learn from and look up to.

Cons

Disadvantages of consultancy - you can be shifted into different roles, e.g. you could be working with database and your next project could be UI development. There is no clear focus of your development in engineering sense, so you cannot became expert in some area. Since the client is the most important, most of the projects are short deadlines and you can be easily overworked. Disadvantages of Deloitte - bad project planning and management. Some people on higher levels are in the roles they are not capable to do, which makes the rest of the team having to work even harder. Overtimes are not paid or compensated. You can end up having 15 hours work day, which is very exhausting over time. All the projects require long working hours and on some of them working Saturdays seam to be a common thing. You are pushed into roles as an expert, when you clearly haven't been given any guidance or you have any knowledge about it. Salaries are below industry standard.
