Pros

Flexible hours (but you have to spend most of your life working so...) Remote (office hours would at least provide you with a work-life balance)

Cons

Pay is terrible Disrespectful management Unrealistic quality metrics Treat professionals like children and do not compensate for experience Strip away any semblance of a work-life balance Condescending or complete lack of communication

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m sorry to hear that your experience with us has been so frustrating, especially after being associated with us for a significant period of time. We do strive to ensure that our processes, quality expectations, and communication are fair and transparent, but it’s clear that this has not reflected in your experience. With regard to pay, assignment fees are determined based on multiple factors such as service type, scope, and effort involved, and we aim to keep them aligned with industry benchmarks. That said, I understand that this may not always feel commensurate with the expertise and effort required, especially for experienced editors. Your feedback about feeling undervalued and the nature of interactions with the team is particularly important. We certainly do not intend for our editors to feel disrespected or unsupported, and this is something we take seriously. If you’d be open to it, I would genuinely appreciate the opportunity to understand your experience in more detail and see where we may have fallen short. Please feel free to reach out to me at sushmitha.s1@cactusglobal.com. Warm Regards, Sushmitha Srinivasan Freelance Engagement Specialist

Pros

Very good online ressources - Very good support - Lots of jobs available

Cons

The calculation for effective productivity (the amount of words to be edited per jobs estimated by an AI) is often incorrectly calculated. For non native speakers or non-proffessional editors, do not expect to make a descent salary working for cactus. If you do not meet the 60K of effective productivity you will be paid 10% less.

Pros

Flexibility to choose own projects and working hours.

Cons

Salary equaled minimum wage at the time for work that required PhD level expertise. No option was offered at the time for negotiating on salary scale.
