Pros

Nice hours most of the time

Cons

The staff and management don't care about people at all. No one wants to help anyone. HR are non-existent. You are expected to do overtime and looked down on if you leave at your normal hour. Pay for the amount of work you do is not worth it. Toxic environment. I know a number of people who have left BNY Mellon due to the negative effects it had on their mental health.

Pros

- Smart, reliable, motivated coworkers. - Interesting and challenging work. - Lots of room for self improvement and learning. - Great training. - Good opportunity to get promoted. - Good pension contributions. - Paid healthcare plan

Cons

- Work may get repetitive. - The pay is OK. - Too much in-house politics. Eg. Senior management imposing an employment freeze to save money in a particular quarter simply to show their own bosses that they have been able to save money. Meanwhile everybody else has to work overtime to cover the workload. Worst of all, supervisors and managers don't get paid overtime, as a result, the money "saved" is in fact earned on the backs of supervisors and managers who essentially worked for free. If you're applying for a supervisory or above position, make sure to be very aggressive in salary negotiations, a lot of overtime is expected, and unfortunately isn't paid.
