Pros

I have worked at Ascentic for 1.5 years now, and I believe Ascentic deserves a positive review for the work they are doing. The following is based on my personal experience and may slightly differ others' experiences based on their project atmosphere and related customers. I hope this will be helpful to anyone considering joining Ascentic. 1. Flat hierarchy, no title-obsession This company stands out for its remarkable flat hierarchy. Individuals are valued for their skills and contributions, creating an atmosphere of equality and collaboration. I've interacted with many people as friends without being aware of their titles, nor do I desire to know them. 2. Warm, welcoming and friendly colleagues From my very first day, I was welcomed with friendliness and warmth by my colleagues. Saying 'hi' to anyone and starting a random chat is very common, whether it's near the coffee area, the pool table, or the foosball table. 3. Open and two-way communication communication is almost two-way here. Whether it's leadership, management, or employees, everyone's voice matters. The freedom to question leadership is encouraged via monthly anonymous survey questionnaires, and the responses, more often than not, reflect a commitment to providing the best possible answers within their capabilities. 4. A culture of transparency Open and straightforward communication is the norm, which develops trust and open conversation at every level. Personally, I feel well-informed about 'what is happening at Ascentic.' 5. A fun and engaging workplace the commitment to employee engagement is truly outstanding. Frequent entertainment activities and weekly after-work events on Thursdays (with food and booze) create a sense of togetherness and keep the workplace lively and engaging. 6. Accessible HR and management A quick chat message or a direct conversation is all it takes. Any concerning matter can be discussed with them, and you can also expect a solution. 7. Fair compensation and benefits Ascentic offers a reasonable pay range compared with other Sri Lankan companies. (this can vary from one individual to another). It also offers insurance, OPD coverage, well-being allowance and spectacle allowance if I'm correct. 8. Convenient office space with recreational facilities The office space is conveniently located and provides nearly all the necessary facilities. The availability of recreational facilities enhances work-life balance, making it a fun place to work. 9. No organizational politics At least, as far as I know, there are no politics that make fellow colleagues' work difficult. 10. Great care for employees In 2022/2023, we faced some challenging situations as employees where certain decisions were made in favor of the ascenders. Ascentic provided the best support within its means and business constraints during these tough economic times. 11. Consistency in practicing what they preach What truly sets this company apart is that these positive attributes are not confined to mere theories. From the top levels of leadership to team members, these values are practiced and experienced 12. Technical aspects - It is always better to be involved in a customer project to gain more real-world experience. - Making a general comment under this section is quite challenging as customer projects and internal projects can vary significantly in a wider range, and the overall developer experience depends on many factors. - There are projects with short, fast-paced phases and also with longer, steady slow phases. However, if you are interested in technical side, there are ample resources available for skill development.

Cons

No major downsides to mention. I would appreciate seeing more projects in the near future.

Pros

- Culture is amazing, you almost never feel out of place. They try their best to make you feel included - One of the only companies in Sri Lanka I've seen where employee wellness is above most things - You are appreciated and awarded for your hard work and dedication every year - We conduct a yearly reviewal process that evaluates your performance (according to reviews from peers) - Amazing workspaces and honestly it makes you WANT to go to office - Flexible work hours. As long as you complete your hours and are present for meetings or when you're needed urgently for a bug fix or something then you're free to work at the times you please.

Cons

- We mainly handle long term engagements. This means that when things slow down you either need to request for a new project or be patient with your client to push for new features (This really makes it sound like a long time but most of the time they do push for features very quickly)
