The hiring process is fairly standard for a tech company, you start with an online coding test, then a phone screen, and then a day long onsite with three main interviews and a tour around the office. Interviews were: system design, technical questions, and behavioral.

The system design interview asked a question about how to design a trading system, or at least a part of it. There was a multi-page written specification that you get a few minutes on your own to read through and then the interviewers return to work through your proposed solution.

1st Round is phone screen with HR. I thought it went well and answered completely non-technical questions from the recruiter for 20-30 minutes, but then I received rejection email 2 days later. Not a difficult interview, but I think I didn't make it clear that I was excited for or passionate about working for Optiver.
