I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at McAfee (New York, NY)
Interview
Got in touch with the team lead hiring for the position, who himself refered me for it.
Short and simple screening round, tell me about yourself, why McAfee, any questions?
One on one with team lead was postponed 15mins before the interview but the lead was polite enough to call and convey the urgency of a meeting. Rescheduled 5 days later, on call with team lead he asked me only one question, how many years of experience I have. I had none, call ended quickly. I was surprised he never saw my resume before the call.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at McAfee
Interview
The procedure involved a HR screening, 3 interviews, and takehomes:
First I met with HR who was nice and helpful and clarified the role duties. Second interview was with the hiring manager. The interview was discussion based, and gradually went from learning more about the role to testing my technical knowledge. Third interview was a technical panel interview on data science and ML questions. Following this, I had to do two take-home assessments at once. They took a good time to complete to a high standard but were useful to learn more about the kind of work the team do and expectations of the role, better than the Leetcode questions some companies ask that are pretty irrelevant to most data science roles. Finally. had a panel interview where I presented the takehome. It was a bit nervewrecking to present and answer questions under pressure, but the interviewers were all really nice throughout.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Many standard ML questions and how I might approach problems X and Y.
