Pros

Great benefits (part of Novartis) Many bright and talented coworkers Mission of the business (access to affordable medicine)

Cons

Expectation that work is your life (work all day, night, last minute demands on weekends) People treated like 'assets'...tools to make money Sales/money is the only priority, and is reinforced over and over again by the President (PG) Short-term focus (week to week) at expense of the future Insane bureaucracy and micromanagement. Exec Committee (specifically President) is the only one who can make a decision. Zero empowerment. Fear culture..big time! Criticize-first mentality, which drives a lack of risk taking (stagnancy) Have not talked with one person who is not looking for another job...even those who have been around less than one year (check the other comments here to confirm!) President is a one-trick pony with his dictatorial style, and it's not working with the US culture. Exec Committee is also afraid of speaking up to President. Sales team not given any time to cultivate customers. Make numbers quickly or you're gone. High turnover, especially with Exec Committee. Seems like we have a whole new crew every year. No stability. New ones come in. President tells them to change everything. Creates chaos and fear.

Pros

Free Vitamin Water, bottled water, and sometimes fruit. Decent pay and benefits. You only have to work 6 days per week usually

Cons

Unrealistic expectations, no work-life balance, no processes or systems in place. Crazy pressure and competitiveness… No trust by management – no empowerment, extreme micro-management starting at the top. Rule by intimidation and fear. Very negative culture, that starts at the top...first question management asks is – who is to blame? Blame game and no collaboration type of culture. Very high turnover – some voluntary and some not…Many people fired. People get burned out and quit or get fired, so either way a short-term type position. Also title inflation to get people in – everyone gets promoted to come to Sandoz. …then they work you 80 hrs/week, so it’s actually less expensive then hiring 2 people. Just to re-emphasize – NO WORK LIKE BALANCE …and combine that with the commute on Route 1…. You've been warned...

Tough Place to Work

Pros

There are some people who are very nice and try to be helpful. The Princeton headquarters is new.

Cons

Workforce is too lean. Too much work and very little understanding from management. Most people do not have a work-life balance. It is a competitive environment to the point where people throw you under the bus regularly to save themselves and appear to contribute more than they actually do. A select few are favored and allowed to come to work late and leave early on a regular basis. Some are disengaged and work on their own schedule which differs from regular working hours. They tend to want people to respond to them quickly, but rarely respond to others. Directors and Associate Directors micromanage to the point where it stifles creativity and innovation. Procedures are not consistent between departments and the people within the same department work against each other. People make changes that are not communicated throughout the group or agreed on, then demand that everyone comply. The environment is negative and many employees do not feel valued. The pay is on the low end for some positions, but still within range.
